The Power Mac 7100 was the mid-range of Apple's first PowerPC trio — positioned between the entry-level 6100 and the flagship 8100. At 66 MHz it offered a meaningful performance step up from the 6100 with two NuBus slots for expansion. Workgroups and design studios that needed PowerPC performance without the full cost of the 8100 tower found it a practical choice.
