PowerCD

A portable CD player and SCSI CD-ROM drive in one unit, manufactured by Philips for Apple. The PowerCD could function as a standalone audio CD player with its built-in speaker and headphone jack, or connect to a Mac via SCSI to serve as a data drive — an elegant dual-purpose device before such flexibility was common. It ran on an AC adapter or an optional battery pack, and its clam-shell form factor made it unusually portable for a CD-ROM drive of the era. Discontinued as dedicated portable CD players commoditized and internal CD-ROM drives became standard in new Macs.
