Jony Ive's most audacious design: a flat LCD screen on a jointed arm above a hemisphere containing everything else. The arm could be positioned at any angle with one finger and would hold its position — the engineering required to counterbalance a display precisely was genuinely difficult. Steve Jobs called it 'the coolest computer I've ever seen.' No Mac before or since has attracted as much attention from people who weren't looking for a computer.
