ADC combined power, video, and USB into a single cable, eliminating the tangle of connectors that had frustrated users since the first monitors shipped. The 17-inch ADC CRT carried this elegant solution into the final generation of CRT displays before Apple moved entirely to flat panels. No other major computer company had ever condensed monitor cabling to a single wire; it would be over a decade before the industry reached the same conclusion with USB-C.
