A flat-panel display matched to the look of the Power Mac G4 and G4 Cube — white polycarbonate at first, then aluminum — positioned as a clean, modern alternative to the CRT displays that had dominated professional desks. The Cinema Display's widescreen aspect ratio (uncommon in monitors at the time) and LED Cinema Display updates brought Apple displays into the HD era. The 30-inch model, introduced in 2004, offered the highest resolution available in a consumer display and became the standard for professional video and photo work.
